FAQ
What does it mean to “Adopt a Family”?
We have holiday wish lists for over 500 families and 600 displaced teens. These lists have the items each family member would like for the Holidays, including ages and sizes. You will receive a wish list for your adopted family and then you shop for the family’s holiday gifts.
How much does it cost to adopt a family?
It is about 75 dollars a person.
Can we meet the families?
We are sorry but no. The families we are helping are often in hiding and we have to respect their privacy.
I can’t adopt a family, how else can I help?
We always welcome gift donations. Donating gift cards is another needed item. Adopt a stocking stocking for $25 which will give a child a stocking filled with treats and a gift card.
Can I come to the shelters or centers and deliver the gifts?
Because there are very important safety and confidentiality issues, and rules set by the shelters, unfortunately we are unable to allow anyone to deliver gifts to the shelters. The board members of the Friends & Helpers Organization provide a full Holiday Season Party for each shelter, including a huge holiday feast, pictures with Santa, and holiday presents that appear to come from Santa or the parents.
Can I donate used items?
We are asking for new items only.
Where or how do I volunteer?
Please contact Friends & Helpers to make a donation, by emailing: info@friendsandhelpers.org
Where can I drop off my holiday gifts?
You will receive information when you adopt your family. Feel free to email us for drop off locations which we are confirming now.
